Corrosion Protection

“Coastal Package”—standard on all MIW exterior doors and windows.

In the industry, this level of corrosion defense is commonly called a Coastal Package. At MIW, it’s not an add-on—it is the standard process applied to all exterior doors and windows, engineered to defend against moisture, salt air, and harsh environments over the long term.

Every MIW unit begins with hot-dip galvanized steel, creating a zinc-protected foundation before fabrication starts. After the unit is fabricated and assembled to specification, it moves through a controlled prep-and-protection sequence: descaling/pickling to remove mill scale and contaminants, sandblasting to create an ideal surface profile, a first degreasing stage, zinc metallizing to reinforce the corrosion barrier, a second final degrease for optimal cleanliness, and then application of the final finish coat—Premium Paint, Hand-Applied Patina, or Liquid Metal Living Finishes.
